THE TALE OF THE BIRDS
- “An intriguing story right off the bat.” (Mary Zannini)
- “Rurik is…my favourite OWW character of all time.” (Scott Clements)
LIFE AND DEATH AT THE CRYSTAL TOWER
- “A brilliant set piece of high fantasy.” (Mary K Wilson)
- “Some times evil is not the most horrible thing one can discover.
Malikos has been summoned to end the night screams. A necromancer’s power lies within the death of the living. . . . To accomplish anything someone must die. Does Malikos have the power to end the night screams and who on the farm will die to quiet the voices of the Crystal Tower if he does?
Life and Death at the Crystal Tower by Anthony Addis is a dark tale portraying the evil that can result when grief rules a good man’s heart. Mr. Addis creates a dark character in Malikos for whom I find I cannot feel disgust or dislike; one for whom I must feel empathy and understanding. Mr. Addis creates deliciously dark and surprisingly decadent feel in this snapshot of a necromancer’s life. The plot is well thought out and executed in such a manner as to inspire admiration for attention to subtle detail and good planning. The primary character and secondary characters are well fleshed out with emotive words that lend themselves to short descriptions with lots of meaning. Mr. Addis is able to make the reader feel the desperation of the farmers and exhaustion of the necromancer and the pain of the screamers. All in all, this is a good short read with plenty on offering to keep your attention for an hour or so.” (Keely Skillman, Independent Reviewer)
RAT TRAP
“The plot is tight, the number of characters minimal, and the strangeness constantly increases, all of which works well.” (Jeanne Cavelos, Editor of THE MANY FACES OF VAN HELSING)
